Tarifa is a city with a long history. From the Bronze Age there are Archaeological remains , the proof is the Necropolis of Algarves located a few meters from our campsite or the Roman Ruines in Bolonia.
The city possesses a magnificent historic center surrounded by the Wall and the Old Castle of Guzman the Good of the Caliphate era. The history, proximity to the African continent, customs, monuments, architecture and cuisine of course, have made the city closely linked to the Muslim culture.
The geographical situation is certainly enviable as the area is surrounded by the Natural Park of the Strait to the south and the Natural Park of the Alcornocales to the north. This means miles of natural wealth in which you can enjoy lots of outdoor activities.Hiking, Trekking, Climbing, etc. .. important to mention an industry that is growing more and more in this area is bird watching or whale watching.
The wind has turned the city into one of the leading Windsurf & Kitesurf spots in Europe. Thousands of visitors come to practice their favorite sport which can be enjoyed almost every day of the year.

FINE SAND & GLASSCLEAR WATER
The coast of Tarifa includes 30km of beach and each has unique characteristics. All are a real beauty. At reception of the camping you will find maps of the area with all accesses.
Playa Chica: It is the Sandy corner of the city, the best place to go with the little ones when the west wind blows. This beach has impresionates views to Africa and you can follow the sea traffic to Tanger as the port is right next to it.
Playa de los Lances: Also in town is the huge beach that goes from “La Chica” beach. It is very extensive and endless and is frequented by all audiences. There are specific areas to practice Kite & Windsurfing it is still an assiduous beach for families and friends who enjoy spending the day on the beach.
Playa de Valdevaqueros: Known as " Las Dunas " only 1km from the campsite . This beach is a favorite place for surfers . This is a very wide long beach , which coexist also perfectly visitors who come for the pleasure of spending a day in the sun on a beach with clean waters and white sands. In this beach you will find restaurants and bars where everyone meets in harmony to enjoy the benefits of Tarifean climate. Following always the right seashore you will find some rocks where emanates the famous " Mud " and passing these rocks you will arrive to the beautiful unspoilt area of Punta Paloma , if you are motivated a little more, you arrive at the natural swimming pool !
Playa de Bolonia: One of the best known is certainly the beach of Bolonia. It offers huge dunes for his tourists who along its three kilometers long coast can enjoy of the fine sand and transparent water. This is an unspoiled area where you can practice nudism in the west , while those who are more interested in a cultural point can visit the ruins of Baelo Claudia . These ruins are the remains of a major city of the second century BC , which was destroyed by a seaquake .
Zahara de los Atunes: Following the national road to the coast of Cadiz is reached Zahara de los Atunes, nice white village , it has many bars & restaurants where you can eat the Tuna that is so typical for this area . Not far away is the German Beach , a secluded beach, recommended if you want to spent a day out in the sun and by the sea without large concentration of people.
